Certified Educator Programme

Become qualified to deliver the Innovation Literacy Programme

What it is

The Certified Educator Programme (CEP) is a two-day, OCN London-accredited train-the-trainer qualification. It prepares educators to deliver the Innovation Literacy Programme (ILP) independently, to a consistent, quality-assured standard.

The ILP itself is a practical, in-person innovation capability programme, built with Innovate UK / UKRI funding through the Greater Manchester Further Education Innovation Programme (GMFEIP) and delivered to over 600 learners across colleges nationally. The CEP is how that delivery capability is passed on.

Assessment is knowledge-based — a written reflection submitted via the learning platform, plus a structured question matrix covering all eight sessions. There’s no live facilitation assessment on the day itself; the focus is on making sure educators understand the model, the pedagogy behind it, and how to apply it in the room.

Who it’s for

The CEP is for anyone who will go on to deliver the Innovation Literacy Programme — including:

  • College staff supporting apprentices, early-career learners, or students on Level 3+ and degree-level programmes
  • Professionals and trainers delivering into businesses or organisations

For Greater Manchester college staff: the CEP is currently free to attend, funded by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA).

For staff outside Greater Manchester, and for independent trainers or organisations, please get in touch for details.

What’s involved

  • Format: two days, in person
  • Design: built around the programme’s “Educator Turns” model, so you experience the facilitation approach as a participant before you deliver it yourself
  • Assessment: written reflection + question matrix (no live teach-back required)
  • Outcome: certification to deliver the Innovation Literacy Programme, backed by an OCN London-accredited qualification

Accreditation

The CEP is accredited by OCN London and maps to the ICE (Innovation, Commercialisation and Entrepreneurship) Skills Framework developed with Oxford Brookes and Innovate UK.
