The Innovation Literacy Programme

The Innovation Literacy Programme is a practical, hands-on programme for anyone who wants to think more creatively, solve problems with confidence, and make a real impact at work.

Delivered in person over two days in groups of up to 25, it takes you through the full innovation journey — from generating your first idea to testing it, building a proposal, and communicating it to stakeholders. Four modules that change how you approach your work.

Originally developed for apprentices across Greater Manchester, it’s now open to anyone from Level 3 upwards, whether you’re an apprentice or senior leader, you will benefit from this programme.

What You’ll Learn

• Understand what innovation really means — and why failure is part of the process
• Generate and develop ideas using proven creative methods
• Build and test prototypes using practical frameworks
• Use tools like PESTLE analysis to understand context and assess risk
• Develop a structured proposal and present it with confidence
• Understand how to foster a culture of innovation in your team or organisation

What Makes This Course Different?

Experiential learning — every session is activity-based. You’ll build things, test things, and work on real challenges with the people in the room.

Accredited — participants earn a digital badge for each module and a full Innovation Literacy certificate, accredited by OCN London. For apprentices, it counts towards Off-the-Job training hours.

Proven — over 600 learners have completed the programme across 23 UK colleges since October 2024, with an average 51% uplift in confidence and a Net Promoter Score of +56.
